London and Home Counties New-Build Passivhaus Experts

Published on by Bow Tie Construction

As we round off 2019 we are happy to observe we have now delivered a number of new-build projects. We have several more in development for 2019. They come in all different shapes, sizes and budgets from £300k up to £1.5M.

Max Fordham House

We have written an explainer on this 2 x RIBA award winning project here. This is a landmark build for London and the UK as it has no dedicated heating system – the building is so efficient it does not need one. You may also like to read RIBA’s award listing and our Project Page.

Beattie Passive in Clapham

We collaborated with Beattie Passive, a supplier of insulated timber frame panels to assemble this three bedroom house in Clapham in London.

Tractor Barn in Bishops Stortford

This house is new-build with the exception of the concrete portal frame visible in the centre picture. It was built to near Passivhaus standard with an MVHR system and ground source heat pump. The client is an artist who grew up in a farmhouse, with a “love of open landscape and barn-like spaces but also a fascination for cosy, hidden-away rooms.” The simple structure has been subdivided into two floors of both single and double-height rooms, with large living and kitchen spaces below and bedrooms above. It has been featured in Dezeen.

Harpenden Passivhaus

We are near completion of this timber frame house insulated with recycled newspaper in Hertfordshire designed by the prestigious, meticulous bere:architects. Clients often ask what systems we install. This frame was provided by Eden Insulation.

EnerPHit in Putney

We are current on-site with a total re-build of a historic single storey house in Putney. Only the external walls remain with the new house having higher ceilings. This house is being built to the Passivhaus EnerPHit standard.

Future Projects

In 2019 in collaboration with KIN we were successful in a bid to secure a site from TFL to develop 4-5 houses. More information on this will follow as the project develops.
